HALFTIME: Kentucky makes history, leads Marshall 69-41
Records are made to be broken, and the Kentucky Wildcats found a way to do just that in the first half against the Marshall Thundering Herd. The team’s 69 first-half points are the most scored in a single half inside Rupp Arena as UK leads by 28 at the break. It’s also the fourth-most points at halftime in school history.
Four different players are in double figures, led by Antonio Reeves with 15 points on 6-9 shooting and 3-3 from three to go with three rebounds and an assist in 16 minutes. From there, Tre Mitchell added 14 on 6-7 shooting, DJ Wagner with 13 on 4-7 shooting and Justin Edwards with 10 on 3-5 shooting. Rob Dillingham firmly on triple-double watch, as well, adding nine points on 4-4 shooting with seven assists and five rebounds. Reed Sheppard is also in the conversation with four points, five assists, four rebounds and two steals at the break.
Seven players scored for the Cats in the first half with Jordan Burks being the lone exception.
As a team, the Wildcats are shooting an absurd 65.0% from the field, 72.7% from three and 90.0% at the line. Of their 26 made baskets, 18 of them came off of assists with just four turnovers at the break.
Is that good? I think that’s pretty good.
