Since Vice President Kamala Harris formally launched her presidential run, Alabamians have donated more than $3.3 million to her campaign. That's more than former President Donald Trump received from donors in the state during the same time frame, campaign finance records show. Since the race began with Trump leading the Republican ticket and facing Democrat President Joe Biden, the Republican has far outraised the Democrats in Alabama . But campaign finance records show a surge of support after Harris took over the Democratic ticket . To identify the top Alabama donors, AL.com reviewed the most recent federal campaign finance filings for both campaigns, as well as the Republican and Democratic national committees and affiliated groups. Trump raised nearly $1.6 million but had more donors, about 5,300, in the state. Top Alabama donors to Harris' 2024 campaign: Alabama is nowhere near a top state for Harris' campaign donations. But, since July 21, more than 5,100 donors in the state have contributed to her campaign, the Democratic National Committee and affiliated groups, according to an AL.com analysis of the most recently available campaign finance records. Thoe top donors to Harris' campaign include business leaders and attorneys. Harris also received donations from other notable people who did not make the top 15: several circuit judges in Alabama, the CEO of Books-a-Million and the president of Oakwood University in Huntsville. The Birmingham resident is the co-founder and managing partner of Abacus Investment. The Mountain Brook resident is retired. The Fultondale resident is director of operations at Ball Healthcare Services in Birmingham. The Montgomery resident lists his employer as "DOD." The Mobile resident is a self-employed attorney. The Huntsville resident is a retired physician and former Alabama state senator. The Mountain Brook resident is a self-employed business manager. The Vestavia Hills resident is self-employed as a financial consultant. He's the son of NFL player and former Green Bay Packers coach Bart Starr.
