New Orleans nonprofit canvassing neighborhoods to share importance of voting
NEW ORLEANS ( WGNO ) — With Election Day one day away, the nonprofit organization, Women With a Vision is working to get more New Orleans voters to the polls.
This enthusiastic team of canvassers with Women With a Vision is getting the word out on the importance of voting.
"We walk the streets to give out information to local voters," said Jaleal Spincer, a canvasser.

They want potential voters to share that enthusiasm.
"We give them sample ballots and questions that will be given to them on the ballots, and who will be on the ballots," said Spincer.
Canvassers said they noticed that some of these folks in the neighborhoods that they've been talking to don't know enough about the candidates. So, it is their goal to give them more information about the candidates.
"Some people aren't sure on who to vote for. We don't steer them. We just give them the information they need," said Spincer.

"We are getting out in the community and pretty much giving power to the people," said Cameron Adams, a canvasser.
"By them voting, it does make a difference in life," said Adams.
By election day, the group wants voters to be ready.
"Giving them that information, so they are prepared, so they don't have to be nervous," said Spincer.
