Hawk Tuah: Footy fans go wild after hilarious sign is revealed at New Zealand Warriors match: 'Genius'

Footy fans have hailed a sign held aloft by a New Zealand Warriors supporter during his side's win over Brisbane Broncos on Saturday.

The unnamed footy fan referenced the 'Hawk Tuah' girl, an internet sensation from the United States, in a witty sign debuted at the 32-18 victory in Auckland.

The 'Hawk Tuah' girl, whose name is Hailey Welch, has become uber-famous over the last week thanks to a social-media video where she references a sexual act.

In the original clip, Welch was being interviewed on the street in Nashville, where she was asked how she gets over a break-up.

'The only way to get over one is to get under another,' she quipped.

The interviewer then asked about Welch 'one move in bed that makes a man go crazy every time.'

Welch's NSFW response almost immediately made social media lose its collective mind.

She used the term 'Hawk Tuah' to describe spitting as part of a sexual act.

And in an indication that the clip has reached all corners of the planet, a quick-thinking footy fan held a sign aloft that read: 'Hawk Tu-ivasa sidestep that thang'.

Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, of course, is the speedy Warriors fullback known for his sidestep.

'The Wahs crowd have an incredibly strong sign game,' one fan said on X. 'Every game, they come up with absolute banger!'

Another added: ' A new standard has been set. Absolute elite tier'.

A third fan said: 'Outstanding' while the original poster described the sign as: 'Genius.

But Warriors coach Andrew Webster was critical of his team's decision-making but was happy with the way they turned around the previous week's performance.

'At times we made it harder on ourselves,' he said

'They still have that feeling of embarrassment from last week.

'They set the week up unbelievably, the way we trained. And then all of a sudden you go from getting absolutely smashed to rocking up, looking confident. Proud of them.'

Despite the Warriors' dominance they only led by 10 points at the break and gave their opposition a chance to get back into the game.

'To go in 16-6 I thought was a huge effort from our guys, given the amount of possession that the Warriors had,' Broncos coach Kevin Walters said.

'I'm really proud of our guys with their effort, we were certainly in the game for a long time.

'We've just got to fix up our skill or our discipline and we'll be back on track.'
