The Riverfront Park fireworks show turned chaotic after several juveniles and adult actors were found with firearms on scene. The show was shutdown early by police and all eventgoers were directed to evacuate the park.

Police detained several juveniles and confiscated multiple firearms, including one fully automatic Glock and a replica BB gun, according to city official Matt Maisel.

The chaotic night at Riverfront Park also left Harrisburg Mayor Wanda Williams injured, forcing her to be escorted away from the event. In a released statement, Mayor Williams says that someone ran into her and landed on her leg.

Aside from being furious at what happened," Mayor Williams said, "I am deeply indebted to the heroic actions of our Harrisburg Bureau of Police officers.

City officials say that the sustained injuries are minor and that Mayor Williams is at home and "doing ok."

Mayor Williams continued on, saying that police officers prevented what could have been "a disaster" and that because of them, no shots were fired.

While it's disappointing a few bad actors ruined an incredible and free event we put on for the city, we are most glad they kept everyone safe.
