Heartland Community College awards five alumni

NORMAL — The Heartland Community College Alumni Association recently honored five former students making a positive impact on the community.

Simran Sandhu received the Distinguished Alumni Award, which is given to an individual who shows the values of the college through their personal and professional accomplishments, according to a news release. Sandhu is director of strategy and innovation at the Illinois Farm Bureau. He has an associate of science degree from HCC and a Bachelor of Science degree in economics from Illinois State University. He also serves on the HCC Foundation Board.

Melissa Jewett received the Career Achievement Award, which is for those who excel professionally in their field, the news release said. Jewett is an administrator at the Ft. Jesse Imaging Center & Gale Keeran Center for Women. She has an associate of arts degree from HCC, a technical degree in radiology from the Bloomington-Normal School of Radiology, and a Bachelor of Science degree in health services administration from Lincoln College.

Melissa Donovan received the College Engagement Award, which is for an individual who has served on committees, boards, as a mentor or in other services at HCC, according to the news release. Donovan owns CPG Printing & Graphics in Bloomington. She earned an associate of arts from HCC and a bachelor's in business administration from Lincoln College.

Arin Rader and Adam Rader were named co-recipients of the Community Service Award, which is given to an individual or individuals who have demonstrated commitment to the community through programs that improve quality of life for individuals, families and communities, the news release said. Both Arin and Adam Rader took courses at HCC and work at Rader Family Farms, which supports 4-H and FFA programs in McLean County schools.
