Heather Dinich: Colorado must win Big 12 Championship to secure College Football Playoff bid
Deion Sanders are going to make the College Football Playoff , the Buffaloes have to win out and win the Big 12 Championship.
That's the only scenario in ESPN's Heather Dinich's mind as the rankings are set to be revealed Tuesday night. It'll be the first of several ranking reveals for the remainder of the season.
Colorado has a path, but they're going to need some help too.
"Colorado in my mind has to win the Big 12 to get in as a two-loss team," Dinich said on Get Up. "And they need help to get into the Big 12 Championship because right now, Iowa State are probably the two teams that will play in that game."
Colorado is 4-1 in league play and travels to Texas Tech this weekend before finishing the season with Oklahoma State , which are a combined 9-17 on the season. Texas Tech is a 3.5-point favorite at home, according to FanDuel.
Iowa State still has meetings with Kansas State , both of which sit in the upper half of the Big 12 standings. BYU has a clear path to finish 12-0 with visits to Arizona State while hosting
So can Sanders and Colorado make it to the dance? They certainly can. Either way, getting bowl eligible after last season and the years prior to Sanders was a huge success.
"Deion Sanders has been an unequivocal success. And I mean home run success," FOX Sports Joel Klatt said on his podcast . "There is no other way to categorize it. And all of you that want to take shots because you don't like his style now have to sit there and watch his team play tough at the line of scrimmage, do a better job with the offensive line, run in the football and take care of he ball.
"And now they're 6-2 and they're going to a bowl, and they're ranked, and they're 4-1 in the conference, and have an outside shot to actually play for a Big 12 title, which would mean that they've got 60 minutes to go to the College Football Playoff. And it's two years removed from losing 11 games by 29 points per (game). Are you kidding me? Where are all of you now that think Deion is a joke, where are all of you now that think Deion is only in it for himself. This guy can coach man, and I'm glad he's doing it at Colorado."
