Here’s what’s open and closed on Veterans Day?

Veterans Day is a holiday that honors all members who served in the military, dead or alive.

The holiday always falls on Nov. 11 and, like with most major holidays, businesses and government offices are closed or have limited hours. Most grocery stores and other companies are still open, but a few have adjusted their hours to honor the holiday.

Below are the changes to keep in mind:

– Capital Area Transit will operate normally on Nov. 10 and 11.

Banks – Closed

Libraries – Dauphin County Library System, open; Cumberland County and Amelia Givens, closed; Palmyra Area Library, closed; Middletown Public Library, open; Hershey Public Library, open.

Pa. Media Group – Open

PennDOT – Closed Nov. 9-11

Post Office – Closed

Liquor Stores – Open regular hours

Parking in Harrisburg – Free on Veterans Day

Grocery Stores – Most grocery stores are open regularly, including Walmart, Aldi, BJ's, Costco, Giant, Trader Joe's, Lidl, Sam's Club, Wegmans, Weis, Save A Lot and Sharp Shopper.

Municipal Government – Adams County, closed; Dauphin County, closed; Cumberland County, closed; Lebanon County, closed; York County, closed.

State government – closed.

Rabittransit – Will operate on a regular schedule.

Trash collection – Most haulers will operate on a normal schedule.

Public Schools – The following districts are closed: Central Dauphin School, East Pennsboro, Harrisburg School, Shippensburg Area, West Perry, Steelton-Highspire, and Susquehanna. The following districts are open: Millersburg Area, Annvile Cleona, Big Spring, Carlisle Area, Cornwall-Lebanon, Derry Twp., Eastern Lebanon, Greenwood, and Halifax Area.
