Traffic to be diverted around work zone
Nov. 7—Starting Monday, the intersection of Zora Street and Duquesne Road/Hall Street will be closed to all traffic as work to build a roundabout intersection moves into a new phase, according to the city of Joplin.
Notices of the closure will be placed at Zora Street and Range Line Road, Zora Street at Missouri Highway 249, and Newman Road at Duquesne Road to let motorists know if they need to divert. However, those who live in the area will be able to access their properties. There will be no access through the site of the intersection work. That intersection will remain closed until the work is complete, which is expected in to be in the spring.
Detour routes will be posted. All traffic, including truck traffic accessing the Joplin/Webb City Industrial Park, will be detoured onto Newman Road and then to Range Line Road or directed to Missouri Highway 171 and onto Madison Street in Webb City.
The project is funded by the Joplin capital improvement sales tax approved by voters in 2014.
