DALLAS — There wasn’t much Wyoming Area could do Wednesday night. Dallas was clicking.
Dallas’ Talia Kosierowski, Nikki Wren and Maddie Kelly combined for 55 points in a 72-58 win over the Warriors. Wren finished the game with 18 points and 14 rebounds. Kosierowski went for 19, while Kelly went for 18 points. Dallas out-rebounded Wyoming Area 42-32.
Wyoming Area’s Emily Wolfgang led the Wyoming Area charge with 12 points and four rebounds. She scored 10 of her points in the fourth quarter as the Warriors were trying to make a late comeback. The comeback fell short. But coach Chad Lojewski was impressed with his team’s effort throughout.
“Our girls don’t quit,” he said. “There are obviously things we need to work on. While we’re a work in progress there are improvements we can make. The girls are very coachable.”
The Warriors found themselves in an early hole as Dallas jumped out to a 7-2 lead midway through the first quarter. They trailed Dallas 19-9 after the first.
But Wyoming Area wouldn’t waver.
The Warriors, who found themselves down 10 at two different points of the first half, cut the lead to just five thanks to some hot shooting from Katie Wolfgang and Lydia Edwards. That duo poured in a pair of threes to cut into the lead in the second quarter. WA outscored Dallas 19-18 in the second quarter.
“We’re going to get better every quarter, every game,” Lojewski said. “One of these games the light bulb will go off.”
Sarah Holweg finished with 10 points, while Edwards and Katie Wolfgang added eight.
Pittston Area 51, Forest City 31
Pittston Area scored 24 points in the second quarter to put the game out of reach Wednesday against Forest City.
Marley O’Brien scored 13 points and Jordan Fritz added 10. Liz Waleski poured in nine points while Alli Barber added eight.
Western Wayne 64, Wyoming Area 47
Wyoming Area’s Sarah Holweg poured in four threes en route to a team-high 16 points to lead Wyoming Area Tuesday.
Emily Wolfgang and Jordan Kelly each had six points inthe loss. Wyoming Area outscored Western Wayne 22-11 in the fourth quarter. However, a 3-point third period proved to be the difference. The Warriors went to the free throw line 26 times in the loss.
Pittston Area 56, Nanticoke 40
Allie Barber and Liz Waleski combined for 34 points and Pittston Area broke the game open with a big third quarter in a 56-40 victory over Nanticoke Area on Monday.
Barber scored eight of her game-high 19 points in the fourth quarter to help the Patriots seal the victory.
Waleski scored seven of her 15 points in the third quarter as Pittston Area extended its 20-18 halftime lead to 39-26 over the opening eight minutes of the second half.
Marley O’Brien added 11 points for the Patriots, who shot 20 of 27 from the foul line.
Pittston Area 66, Northwest 23
Three players reach double digits for the Patriots led by a 14-point performance from Liz Waleski in a win over Northwest on Tuesday evening.
Kirsten Durling contributed 11 points, and Taryn Ashby followed with 10. The Patriots held the Rangers to just eight points in the first half. The Patriots went to the free throw line 26 times in the win.
Marley O’Brien and Jordan Fritz had eight points, while Jamie Chisdock had six.
The Patriots traveled to North Pocono on Saturday and results weren’t available as of press time. Pittston Area will host Abington Heights at 7:15 p.m. Monday.

The annual Pittston Area Holiday Tournament begins on Friday. Both Pittston Area and Wyoming Area are participating.
