In sports, they say it's not about how you start, but rather how you finish. That saying epitomizes Sunday's Lone Star Conference Championship game between the Dallas Baptist Patriots and Angelo State Belles.
ASU started slowly. DBU drew first blood in the 30th minute when McKenna Vela knocked in a goal, giving the Patriots a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
Dallas Baptist was seemingly in control for most of the game until the 88th minute. That's when everything changed.
Sanai Stewart found Graycen Rasmussen, who buried her third goal of the season, giving the Belles life. It was only fitting to send this thrilling match to overtime.
No goals were scored in the first ten-minute overtime period, extending the game to double overtime.
It took only three minutes and 19 seconds for the Belles to seal the deal. Abby James scored the game-winning goal, securing ASU's LSC Championship win. The Belles now await seeding results en route to NCAA Regionals.
