HIGHLIGHTS: Midland Legacy vs. Abilene
ABILENE, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – The Midland Legacy Rebels picked up their first win of the season, beating the Abilene Eagles 62-42. The Rebels did it without starting quarterback Jaden Rogers, who went down with an injury in Week 3 and was seen in a knee brace before the game.
Backup sophomore quarterback J.P. Reyes had a career night in his first-ever varsity start.
Reyes broke the school record for passing yards in a single game. That record was previously held by Mikey Serrano who threw for 415 yards in a single game in 2018. Reyes went 19/23, 423 yards and six touchdowns through the air.
The Rebels had 561 total yards to the Eagles' 451 and the 1-3 Rebels look to continue that play into next week when they take on the Ruston Bearcats from Ruston, LA. That game is Saturday at 7 p.m. at Choctaw Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
