Hiking club forming at Pittston Senior Citizens Center

A special meeting will be held on Friday, August 28 at the Pittston Senior Center at 1 p.m. for those signed up for the Wildwood, New Jersey, trip in September. Important information will be given at the time and all are urged to attend. Light refreshments will be served.
Six seats are still available for a trip to Branson, Missouri on October 11-17. Cost is $835 which includes admission to nine shows with great seating, fourteen meals, round trip motor coach transportation and much more. For reservations or for more information contact Connie Andrews at 655-5561 between the hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Reservations are open for a day trip to Hollywood Casino on Thursday, November 5 at a cost of $20. You will receive a free play voucher and food credit. Also reservations are now open for a day trip to the American Music Theatre on Thursday, December 3. Cost is $89 which includes dinner, show and motor coach transpiration.
Our walking group meets every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9:30 a.m. If you would like to join this group call Connie or Hazel. Also a hiking group is now forming. Nikki LaVenda, who has been hiking for numerous years and is a member of the Susquehanna Trailers Hiking Club and a member of the Sierra Club, will be leading the hiking group. The hikes will take place at Frances Slocum State Park. There are nine miles of various nature trails, which include some short easy trails for beginners as well as longer, more challenging trails for the advancing hike. Dinner is served daily at noon Monday through Friday. Dinner reservations must be made at least one day in advance by noon. Asking donation is $2. New members are always welcome to join in on activities and special events.
Senior Citizens Centers sponsored by the Area Agency on Aging for Luzerne and Wyoming counties offers hot noon meals Monday through Friday to people 60 years of age or older. Donations from participants are gratefully accepted and needed in order to expand this program.
Monday – Beef and cabbage casserole, whipped potatoes, carrot coins, grain bread, molasses cookie, margarine, milk and coffee
Tuesday – Bag lunch
Wednesday – Sausage and peppers, pickled red beets, roll, angel food cake, mixed berries, margarine, milk and coffee
Thursday – Swedish meatballs, green beans, grain dinner roll, egg noodles with gravy, fruit pie, margarine, milk and coffee.
Friday – Boneless pork loin with gravy, sweet potatoes, Italian vegetable medley, rye bread, tropical fruit mix, margarine, milk and coffee.
