Holiday events kick off this weekend

A Country Christmas in Northwest Nebraska will start Friday with the Pine Bough Bazaar at the Dawes County Fairgrounds from 4-7 p.m. There will be a second day of shopping on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., also at the fairgrounds.

On Tuesday, Nov. 12, check out the Business After Hours event at Home Haven.

Next weekend, the Chadron Arts Center is home to the Giving Hearts Gala on Saturday, Nov. 16, starting at 5:30 p.m. Starting Nov. 20, the Festival of Trees at the Dawes County courthouse is open for viewing.

More early shopping opportunities will be Nov. 22 from 4-8 p.m. and Nov. 23 from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., at the VFW Hall in Harrison. On Nov. 30, Chadron and Crawford will host Shop Small Saturday events. Be sure to stop by Apricot Lane from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to visit Santa in his workshop. Chadwick the Shop Small Chamber Elf will also be popping from Nov. 20 until Christmas Eve. Find the elf and win some Chamber Bucks.

On Dec. 1, the Stateline Casino will host kids' Christmas shopping.

On Dec. 5, be in downtown Chadron for plenty of fun. There will be hot chocolate, chili and live entertainment at the Downtown Plaza starting at 5 p.m., and the community tree lighting is at 6 p.m. following the tree ceremony, be sure to check out the annual KCSR/KBPY Parade of Lights on Main Street. End the evening with some music during the holiday concert at CSC's Memorial Hall.

Dec. 6, Santa will again be available for pictures, at Nebraska Bank from 4-6 p.m.

Dec. 7 from 9-4 p.m. the Dawes County Fairgrounds will have another shopping opportunity at the Kris Kringle Boutique. Over at Fort Robinson, the historical dinner and Light Up the Fort begins at 6 p.m. The dinner is a ticketed event, and ticket went on sale this past Monday.

On Dec. 8, kids have a chance to go shopping at the Assumption Arena from 1-2:30 p.m.

Dec. 13, Pine Ridge Job Corps will have their annual Christmas dinner. Dec. 14, Chadron Rotary and Chadron Kiwanis will provide a free Christmas matinee at Eagle Theatre. Wrapping up the Country Christmas events is Consuming Fire's presentation of Alice in Wonderland, at 2 p.m. Dec. 15 at Memorial Hall.
