Homicide suspect out of Denver arrested in Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Lincoln Police say that a homicide suspect out of Denver, Colorado has arrested in the Capital City.

According to LPD, 30-year-old Zachary Rice was apprehended Sunday night after a disturbance in the area of 17th and Washington around 8:15 p.m.

Police say officers were sent there on a report of a disturbance involving a private property accident.

"Officers contacted several people and one male provided a false name," LPD reported. "When officers continued to question the man, he eventually gave his real name and said he had warrants."

Police said that Rice pushed officers away and fled the area on foot. A helicopter from the Nebraska State Patrol was called in to help officers as they searched for Rice. LPD says that Rice was soon located and taken into custody near 20th & A.

According to police, Rice a warrant out of Denver for his arrest, as authorities listed Rice as a fugitive from justice.
