hio (WXIX) - A homicide victim and the suspect are dead following a shooting in southwest Ohio early Monday and a pursuit and "officers-involved shooting" in south-central Indiana, according to police in both states.

Lacresha Black, 33, was found dead outside of her home on Lincoln Avenue in the Cincinnati suburb of Springfield Township when officers responded to reports of a woman shot in the head there around 7 a.m., Springfield Township police said.

As police investigated, they said they identified the suspect as Terea Brown, 42, of Cincinnati, who had fled the scene in a black Chevrolet Cruze.

Police said they put out a description of the suspect's vehicle to law enforcement. Shortly after, detectives learned Brown's vehicle was spotted in Clinton County, Indiana.

Indiana State Police found the Chevrolet Cruze northbound on Interstate 65 and attempted a traffic stop but the driver failed to comply and initiated a pursuit, state police said in an update on social media titled "Indiana State Police are Investigating an Officers Involved shooting."

The chase continued north until the Chevrolet Cruz exited at State Road 28.

The vehicle stopped on County Road 800 W, just south of State Road 28.

"At that point, a shot was fired from the vehicle and by troopers," Indiana State Police wrote on their Facebook page.

"Indiana State Police SWAT arrived on the scene and approached the vehicle using an armored vehicle. Upon entry, SWAT officers discovered a deceased individual inside the vehicle. No other occupants were found. During the course of the investigation, a firearm was recovered from inside the suspect's vehicle."

Clinton County's coroner identified Brown as the woman dead inside the vehicle, state police said.

"Brown was wanted for questioning in connection with a homicide investigation out of Springfield, OH," police wrote on Facebook.

"This remains an active and ongoing investigation by the Indiana State Police Criminal Investigation Division. Once complete, the findings will be submitted to the Clinton County Prosecutor's Office for review. There was no one else injured during this event."

Several law enforcement agencies assisted state police: Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Clinton County Sheriff's Office, Boone County Sheriff's Office, Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Office, Frankfort Police Department, Lebanon Police Department and Clinton County EMS.
