'Horrifying' Video Of NYPD Shooting At Brooklyn Subway Station Released The police shooting at Brooklyn's L Train Station on Sunday night left four people with gunshot injuries.

BROOKLYN, NY — The NYPD has released body camera footage of last weekend's police shooting at Brooklyn's L Train station where a confrontation with a farebeater ended with four people shot.

The footage released on YouTube shows the events on Sept. 15 leading to the moment two NYPD officers shot 37-year-old Derrell Mickles after he evaded paying a fare and threatened officers with a knife.

In addition to Mickles, two bystanders and one police officer were also shot during the chaotic incident on Sunday. Since the shooting, one of the bystanders has been diagnosed with brain damage from the bullet.

The footage begins with CCTV surveillance video from inside the station. Bodycam footage from involved NYPD officers — identified by the New York Daily News as Edmund Mays and Alex Wong — shows them pursuing Mickles through the station and up three flights of stairs until he threatens police officers with a knife.

"You're going to make me kill you if you don't f- leave me the f- alone," Mickles can be heard saying as the officers follow him.

Mickles eventually stops and faces the officers, still holding the knife. When asked to drop the knife, Mickles says, "I'm not dropping nothing, shoot me."

A train arrives at the station and the officers follow Mickles onto it, the video shows. Mickles repeatedly tells the officers to "leave me alone" as they continue asking him to drop the knife and put down his hands.

Officers fire tasers twice at Mickles, who tears the wires out of his clothing before walking back onto the platform.

According to the video, Mays runs ahead of Mickles on the platform while Wong remains behind him. Once Mays is in front of Mickles, the video shows him facing the other man in a shooting stance. Mickles is holding the knife in his hand by his side when both officers open fire.

In a statement following the release of the footage, NYC Public Advocate Jumaane Williams called the "horrifying" video "years of failure in the making."

"Four people shot, one a fellow officer, one an innocent bystander who may never recover," Williams said. "Not a single shot needed to be fired at the moment officers fired into a train with people in it."

Mickles faces multiple charges following the incident, including first-degree assault, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, menacing, and theft of service for not paying the subway fare, the Brooklyn district attorney said.

Mickles was arraigned from his hospital bed on Friday. He pleaded not guilty to all criminal charges against him.

Mickles was ordered to be held on a $200,000 cash bail or a $1.5 million bond.
