Horror as 'human remains' discovered in field by passerby - as police launch probe

Police have launched a probe after suspected human remians were found in a field by a passer by.

The horrific discovery was made by a passer by, close to a quiet cul-de-sac near Lyde Green in north-east Bristol.

Officers from Avon and Somerset Police have not yet identified the remains and the death is being treated as unexplained.

Multiple emergency service vehicles, including a police forensics van and an underwater search unit were rushed to the scene.

Residents in Apple Grove near Lyde Green say their usually-quiet street has been 'non-stop' since yesterday, as police units have searched the area.

A footpath heading towards a bridge over the Folly Brook has been sealed off by police.

A police spokesperson said: 'Police are investigating the discovery of suspected human remains in a field in Emersons Green.

'Officers were alerted just before midday on Tuesday 5 November by a member of the public.

'Police and fire crews attended, and further searches will be carried out today, Wednesday 6 November.

'Detectives have not yet been able to identify the remains, and the death is currently being treated as unexplained pending a forensic post-mortem examination.

'Anyone with any information which could help the investigation is asked to call 101 and give the reference 5224291560.'
