Horse Tracks: Broncos have a talent issue on offense

A.Hernandez31 min ago
The Broncos struggles on offense have continued this season as the team has just scored one touchdown all season and are coming off a game where they scored just 6 points. Part of these struggles is starting a rookie quarterback in a year where scoring is down by a large margin. However, the other reason is a lack of overall talent on the offensive side for the Broncos.

Let's face it, nobody on the Broncos offense is really scaring any defenses. Bo Nix is a rookie quarterback who is struggling at the moment and only has two career starts under his belt. The Broncos run game was not good last year and so far, is performing even worse this season. Javonte Williams is facing stacked boxes while still not looking like the player he was pre-injury. At receiver, Courtland Sutton has 5 receptions for 64 yards on the year, has had issues with drops again, and does not offer much after the catch. The rest of the Broncos receivers are a work in progress and really are not scaring defenses either. At tight end, Greg Dulcich is at least healthy, but he had two drops vs. the Steelers and has not been the receiving threat the Broncos thought he would be when they selected him in the third round of the draft.

The Broncos lack a true star or difference-maker on the offensive side of the ball and they are struggling because of it.

This should have been obvious during the summer but the hype and hope Bo Nix gave us had us overlooking the Broncos' obvious weaknesses. Now, two games into the season, reality has smacked us down to earth and the issues are apparent once again.

Can they improve as the season progresses? Sure, and the hopeful growth of rookie quarterback Bo Nix should hopefully improve the rest of the team around him. Hopefully, we see young players like Audric Estime, Troy Franklin, Devaughn Vele, Marvin Mims, and Greg Dulcich improve and become playmakers for the Broncos. If not, it could be a very long year for the Broncos.

Either way, getting more playmakers, talent, and speed around Bo Nix will be a priority for the Broncos this offseason.
