Houston Texans at Minnesota Vikings: First Quarter Recap and Second Quarter Discussion

We've made it through the first quarter at U.S. Bank Stadium with your Minnesota Vikings leading the Houston Texans by a score of 14-0.

The Vikings won the coin toss and chose to defer to the second half, giving C.J. Stroud and the Texans the football first. It took just two plays for the Vikings' defense to make an impact, as Harrison Phillips tipped a pass from Stroud that landed in the hands of Kamu Grugier-Hill for an interception.

It didn't take long for the Vikings to convert the turnover into points, as Sam Darnold found Justin Jefferson for a six-yard touchdown pass to put the purple ahead 7-0 just three minutes into the contest.

It looked like the Vikings had gotten a second straight turnover but a play that was originally ruled a catch and fumble by Dalton Schultz was reviewed and called an incomplete pass. The Texans couldn't take advantage of their second chance, however, as Ka'imi Fairbairn's 54-yard field goal attempt went wide right to set the Vikings up nicely.

Minnesota turned the missed field goal into another touchdown pass for Darnold, as he found Aaron Jones for an 8-yard catch-and-run to make it a 14-0 game with just over a minute left in the quarter.

As we move to the second quarter, the Texans are looking to punt as they've got a 4th-and-8 from their own 32-yard line.

We're done with the first quarter, folks, and the Vikings lead the Texans by a score of 14-0. Come on in and hang with us for the second quarter!
