How drivers in El Paso County are being impacted by the snowstorm

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) -With the snow came slushy, slick, and icy conditions on the roads Wednesday that drivers said set them back dramatically.

A truck driver 11 News spoke with said he was driving north from Mexico to make a delivery when he was caught by a snowstorm in Monument. He says he has been stuck at the truck stop since yesterday night due to the dangerous road conditions.

"I tried to go deliver in Denver something up to Denver but I can't because the weather is bad. It's better to be safe than to have an accident on the road," said truck driver Leo Caldera.

Semi-trucks early in the morning were parked on the side of I-25 trying to install chains on their tires. This was in part due to CDOT's advisory of the chain laws being in effect this morning.

" I started down in the springs and it got progressively worse...I'm pretty confident I just try and stay as far away from people as I can and give them their space," said Matt Hughes, Handyman.

According to 11 News meteorologists, conditions are expected to be calm through the evening but snow will pick up again early in the morning tomorrow.
