How much are your antiques worth? TV expert giving opinions at Delavan library

DELAVAN — One of the guest experts from "Antiques Roadshow" will tell people how much their old stuff is worth Saturday, Nov. 16.

Registration is open now for Antique Appraisal with Mark Moran at Aram Public Library, 404 E. Walworth Ave., Delavan. The event is from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Moran will appraise items at a cost of $15 per item, with a three-item limit. The event is a fundraiser for the Delavan Aram Public Library Foundation.

The former senior editor of Antiques and Collectibles Books for Krause Publications was a guest expert on the PBS show "Antiques Roadshow" for nine season.

He was also the former senior editor of Antiques and Collectibles Books for Krause Publications in Iola, and was contributing editor for Antique Trader magazine.

Moran served as editor of Antique Review East magazine; producer of Atlantique City, an antique show in Atlantic City, New Jersey; and was editorial director of F+W Media's Antiques Group.

Items for the event may be Americana, including autographs and historical documents; fine art, such as paintings, drawings, prints and statues; furniture, preferably smaller pieces; ceramics; glassware; vintage photographs; folk art, including carvings, quilts, weathervanes, windmill weights and outsider art; assorted toys such as dolls, windups and mechanical banks; metalware; clocks; costume jewelry; musical instruments; antique and vintage lighting; books; and sports memorabilia.

The following items will not be allowed: Weapons; traps; Nazi memorabilia; coins and paper money; fine jewelry; and Beanie Babies.

At the event, opinions on value are informal and may not be used for insurance or charitable donations which require a certified appraisal.
