Huge crowds line out in bid to secure life-saving treatment for brave Meath ‘warrior’ (9) battling rare condition

Little Nathan Ward has been fighting the onset of Primary Immunodeficiency Disorder, a condition that impacts the immune system that can leave individuals more prone to infection.

Its debilitating side-effects requires blood transfusions and constant antibiotics, challenges which have since sparked a huge fundraising appeal by his family in a bid to ensure Nathan can lead a normal and healthy life going forwards.

Those hopes, which hinge on securing a stem cell operation in Boston, coincided with dozens of motorcyclists South Dublin Bikers club descending on Nathan's home in Navan yesterday (Sunday).

The occasion was one which was certainly not lost on the large crowds that lined out or the courageous little youngster at the centre of yesterday's event.

"To some it be may be nothing, to us this hits home, but we, South Dublin Bikers came across Nathan in Navan after our Belgard meet who has a loving for motorbikes," club spokesperson Lee Moran.

"Nathan will require a stem operation in Boston and after speaking with his parents who are in the early stages of enquiring as it can cost upwards €50,000.

"We, as a group, decided to jump on board and help get this little warrior to Boston for this life-saving treatment."
