IE Varsity’s Week 4 football roundup: Kalib Pacheco helps Don Lugo reclaim ‘Milk Can’

Kalib Pacheco completed 21 of 30 passes for 270 yards and three touchdowns as the Don Lugo football team pulled out a 20-14 victory over Chino in the annual "Milk Can Game" between crosstown rivals.

Don Lugo (2-3) brought home the Milk Can for the first time since the pandemic-delayed 2021 spring season.

Joshua Morales finished with eight receptions for 95 yards and two touchdowns, while Blake LaPorte hauled in eight passes for 149 yards to help the Conquistadores snap their three-game skid. Sam Plunkett caught the other touchdown pass from Pacheco.

Chino (0-5) held a 14-0 lead in the opening minutes for the second quarter, but Don Lugo's defense held the Cowboys scoreless for the final 35 minutes of the game.

Centennial 63, Liberty 39: Husan Longstreet tossed four touchdown passes as the Huskies pulled away for a nonleague win over Arizona's top-ranked team Saturday. Braylin Drake ran for three touchdowns, while Cory Butler Jr. and Tyler George caught two touchdown passes apiece for Centennial (3-2). Charles Castille and Cade Paterson each returned an interception for a touchdown in the second half for the Huskies.

Chaparral 42, Great Oak 0: Dane Weber tossed three touchdown passes as the Pumas won a nonleague game Friday and clinched the Temecula city championship for the second consecutive season. Caden Butler and Noah Charfauros each scored two touchdowns for Chaparral (4-0).

Aquinas 48, Notre Dame 0: Champ Brown and Jusyis "Jojo" Solis each scored a pair of touchdowns as the Falcons cruised to victory in a nonleague game Thursday. Malachi Jones had a touchdown pass and a scoring run for Aquinas (2-2), which has won seven straight games in the annual "Holy War" rivalry series.

Hemet 49, Adelanto 0: Draven Lopez tossed two touchdown passes, ran for a touchdown and also returned an interception for a score as the Bulldogs cruised to victory in a nonleague game Thursday. Mathew Gregory and James Abner also scored defensive touchdowns for Hemet (5-0).

Jurupa Hills 30, Rancho Mirage 27: Ja'khai Johnson passed for 150 yards and two touchdowns as the Spartans won a nonleague game Friday. Derek Beeman added 94 yards on the ground for Jurupa Hills (1-3).

Valley View 28, Yucca Valley 7: Jesse Vega tossed three touchdown passes and scored once on the ground as the Eagles won a nonleague game Thursday. Alex Ramirez, Tionne Billups and Kyle Winston caught the touchdown passes for Valley View (2-2).

Hillcrest 31, Lakeside 0: Matthew Ramos passed for 281 yards and three touchdowns and added two scores on the ground as the Trojans cruised in a nonleague game Friday. Julian Sandoval caught five passes for 127 yards and a touchdown, and Louie Fajardo had 107 rushing yards for Hillcrest (4-1).

Bonita 47, Kaiser 0: Travis Lippert tossed three touchdown passes as the Bearcats won a nonleague game Friday. Daiveon Woodley and Drew Apodaca each scored two touchdowns for Bonita (5-0).

Perris 41, Jurupa Valley 0: Ryan Arredondo threw three touchdowns passes as the Panthers cruised to a nonleague win Thursday. Omarie Wilcox caught a touchdown pass and returned a punt for another score for Perris (4-1).

Big Bear 21, Desert Hot Springs 0: Brennen Berge ran for 119 yards and two touchdowns as the Bears won a nonleague game Friday, Isaiah Ramirez added 105 yards on the ground for Big Bear (3-1).

California School for the Deaf-Riverside 26, Maryland School for the Deaf 18: Gio Visco ran for 117 yards and three touchdowns as the Cubs won a nonleague game Saturday. CSDR (3-0) heads north this week for its annual rivalry game against CSD-Fremont.

Paloma Valley 20, Diamond Bar 14: Javon Major ran for a touchdown, and Isaac Navarro threw a touchdown pass to London Jones-Marshall as the Wildcats won a nonleague game Friday. Camron Boozer kicked a pair of field goals for Paloma Valley (4-1).

Hamilton 39, San Jacinto Valley Academy 8: William Hamlett ran for 247 yards on 27 carries and scored four touchdowns in leading the Bobcats to a Manzanita League win Friday. Cole Haley had three sacks and forced a pair of fumbles to lead the defensive effort for Hamilton (1-3, 1-0).

Moreno Valley 34, La Sierra 0: Syree Matthews passed for 203 yards and a touchdown and added 54 yards and a touchdown on the ground in leading the Vikings to a nonleague win Thursday. Tre Williams ran for 109 yards and a touchdown for Moreno Valley (2-2).

Corona 30, Indian Springs 20: Ryker Gazard ran for 102 yards and scored three touchdowns as the Panthers won a nonleague game Thursday. Will Hitchcock passed for 173 yards and a touchdown for Corona (1-3).

Elsinore 31, Eisenhower 12: Brayden Stankus passed for 133 yards and a touchdown as the Tigers won a nonleague game Friday. Jaden Evans ran for 73 yards and a touchdown for Elsinore (1-3).

Montclair 36, Ontario 2: Damien Pacheco passed for 220 yards and four touchdowns as the Cavaliers won a nonleague game Friday. Antonio Perez and Isaac Medina each scored two touchdowns for Montclair (2-3).

Banning 17, Rialto 0: Tyler Pullen and Otis White each scored a touchdown as the Broncos (4-1) won a nonleague game Thursday.

California Military Institute 40, Nuview Bridge 6: Gabriel Tapia, Oscar Lopez and Josue Reyes scored two touchdowns apiece as the Roughriders won a Manzanita League game Friday. Reyes and Ivan Iniguez combined to rush for 203 yards for CMI (1-4, 1-1).

Bell Gardens 29, Arlington 21: Daniel Gonzalez passed for 231 yards and a touchdown and added 121 yards and a touchdown on the ground, but the Lions (3-2) came up short in a nonleague game Thursday.

Shadow Hills 34, Patriot 33: Josiah Felix ran for 219 yards and scored four touchdowns but the Warriors (2-2) dropped a nonleague game Friday.
