Video: Commanders' Jayden Daniels Talks Rookie Season, Advice from C.J. Stroud, More

Randy Litzinger/Icon Sportswire via Star rookie Jayden Daniels is preparing for his third career game when the Washington Commanders meet the Cincinnati Bengals on , but he's already accumulated a few mentors around the league.

Daniels spoke about his rookie season with ESPN's Scott Van Pelt and discussed his relationships with Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud and Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young. He said he's received valuable advice from both of them, especially considering their polar opposite rookie campaigns in 2023.

"Just be yourself, the main thing is, we got here for a reason, teams picked us for a reason. Don't try to go out there and be somebody that you're not, continue to be yourself, and enjoy the wins, because they're hard to come by," Daniels said of the wise words he's received from his friends. "Obviously, it's two different types of paths from them last year. Trying to follow them this year, it's go out there and just enjoy the wins, be yourself and try to lead the team the best you can."

When Daniels faces the Bengals, he will be up against another familiar face in quarterback Joe Burrow. The two of them took similar paths to LSU, where they both established themselves among the best quarterbacks in program history.

"Me and Joe got a good relationship. Obviously, us both being transfers going to LSU and them accepting us and accomplishing what we accomplished there, we kind of built our relationship over those past two years," Daniels said. "Now to be able to be on the same field as him, I know a lot of people back in Louisiana will be happy to tune into that game. ... I'm pretty sure they'll root for both sides."

Daniels and the Commanders earned their first win of the year last week, so they will try to keep the momentum going when they visit the Bengals on Monday night.
