ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — The Illinois Tollway spotlighted its program at Rock Valley College on Friday, saying nearly 500 students have been hired into full-time jobs.

The program takes employees through job training, job placement assistance, and gives them access to construction companies across northern Illinois, specializing in heavy highway and construction industries.

Since the program was launched, officials say 460 members have entered a trade union.

"It's a great opportunity for people who don't really want to go back to college and start over to school all over again. It's a great quick program that, you know, to get the certifications that you need to get into union," said ConstructionWorks candidate Makeva Randolph.

Next month, the Department of Transportation will be hiring for winter seasonal employment, which runs October 16th through April 15th each year.
