Intentionally set apartment fire displaces adult, child in Peoria

PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - A Friday morning apartment fire in Peoria was determined to have been intentionally set.

Peoria firefighters were called around 7:20 a.m. to a three-story apartment building in the 2500 block of Wardcliffe Drive.

A fire was found in a third floor bedroom and was quickly extinguished.

All residents had evacuated before firefighters arrived.

Several apartments had to be ventilated because of smoke.

The adult and child displaced were able to secure their own temporary housing. All other residents were able to return to their respective apartments.

The fire department said the fire was determined to have been intentionally set.

Damage is estimated at $15,000.

No injuries were reported.
