Deric hosted a special broadcast from Ballygannon Woods to discuss the acorn gathering event second class pupils from St Saviour's were involved with the previous week, which was organised by The Nature Trust as a rewarding way to connect with nature while helping to expand Ireland's native woodlands – one small acorn at a time.

The purpose of the gathering was to provide acorns for replanting into oak trees in identified areas around Ireland in an effort to preserve our native trees and habitats.

During the interview Antoinette Doyle, Principal St Saviours NS, explained that the oak tree has a special place in St Saviours NS as their school logo has the oak leaf. Next year will be the school's 200th anniversary and the original property had a huge oak tree located at the front of the school.

She also said she was very proud of the school's contribution to this important Nature Trust initiative and confirmed it was an enriching educational experience for the children.
