Is that really true? Republic investigates election messaging, reports correct information

Who's watching out for election misinformation? We are.

Two Arizona Republic reporters are focused on checking out the truth of political messages during the final days of the campaign season and in the weeks after the election.

They are monitoring election-related messages in Arizona, including social media, content from potentially problematic websites and answering questions about fairness and accuracy from community members.

Reporters Coleby Phillips and Rey Covarrubias Jr. will review instances of possibly incorrect information and work to share correct election information.

Phillips and Covarrubias' work is supported by a grant from the Center for Media Engagement at the University of Texas at Austin.

They will focus on fact-checking information in state, county and local races and write s based on their fact checks.
