New York Jets fans had flashbacks to Week 1 of the 2023 season on Sunday when quarterback Aaron Rodgers grabbed his left leg in significant pain.

On 3rd-and-10 from his own 14-yard line, Rodgers was hit on an incompletion and fell to the ground with a Vikings defender beneath him. His leg bent in an unnatural way, and as he struggled to get to his feet, the air was taken out of Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Rodgers, somehow, would miss just a single play.

The 40-year-old quarterback hobbled his way to the blue tent, but never made it onto the table inside.

The Jets punted immediately, but a roughing the kicker penalty gave New York 15 yards, a fresh set of downs, and a reason for Rodgers to re-enter the game. The quarterback dutifully responded, snapping on his helmet and rushing right back onto the field. Backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor did not take a snap.

The Jets stormed down the field, first with two Breece Hall rushes and then a completion from Rodgers to receiver Garrett Wilson. He hit Hall and then backup running back Braelon Allen as New York crossed into Minnesota territory.

Gang Green eventually worked their way into the red zone by way of another Wilson catch. The drive stalled out shortly after, but New York was able to put three points on the board, cutting the Vikings lead down to 17-10.

It wasn't the result Jets fans wanted, but they also know how important Rodgers is to this team's success. At the drive's end, Rodgers had completed 18 of 34 attempts on the day for 153 yards, a touchdown, and two interceptions.

It's been ugly, yes. Perhaps downright bad. But Rodgers is healthy, and after a postponed trip to the medical tent, New York can exhale.
