Jacksonville native the youngest person ever to be in the state’s General Assembly
GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — One ECU student is making history as the youngest person ever elected to the state's General Assembly.
Wyatt Gable is 22 years olds and a Jacksonville native. Now, he's going to be representing District 14 in Onslow County. The young Republican beat Carmen Spicer on Tuesday. He also beat the current representative, George Cleveland, in the primary. Gable is still in school and will graduate in May. He said that some of the top issues he will focus on are around education, veteran issues and better infrastructure.
"We've got so many people moving to Onslow County and making sure that the roadways can maintain or handle that amount of people. And then on top of that, making sure people have jobs because we really get neglected east of I-95 for infrastructure and jobs and making sure that people feel heard in those issues is a top thing." said Gable.
Gable added that he is looking forward to getting started.
