( KRON ) — Doctor Jane Goodall, founder of the Jane Goodall Institute (JGI) and a United Nations Messenger of Peace, made an appearance at San Francisco's Dreamforce conference on Wednesday.

During her Dreamforce panel, featuring other figures such as Sandhguru and Mathew McConaughey, the acclaimed researcher announced her plans to bring her youth-action movement, Roots & Shoots, to San Francisco.

The youth action movement describes itself as a program "inspiring young people of all ages in nearly 70 countries to create positive change in their communities." With support from Salesforce, the international youth-action program will expand its "Basecamp" model to the Bay Area.

"We are thrilled to partner with Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots to make San Francisco home to their newest basecamp. We admire the community they have built and share their commitment to investing in the next generation and uplifting youth voices," said Becky Ferguson, Senior Vice President of philanthropy at Salesforce.

Roots & Shoots is part of JGI, which has championed the work of Goodall in 25 chapters around the world since 1977.

Goodall herself was a highly respected zoologist, anthropologist, and animal behavior researcher who pioneered wildlife rehabilitation, habitat restoration, and conservation efforts. She was mainly known for her love of chimpanzees.
