Joan Stancavage OBITUARY
Joany "mac" passed peacefully in her home in California on August 12th. Beginning life with Babs and Jack Steggmin, later on Pete filled his shoes; becoming dad. During WWII grandparents took her in, where she lived among pines and firs, with river excursions and pet chipmunks. An alum of Santa Rosa High School & San Jose State where she earned two degrees, this 'long tall Sally' loved flowers, art, history and PBS mysteries. Whitewater rafted in Guatemala, Ecuador, Colorado, California & Alaska and she added many stamps to her passport on her life's journey. She cherished working as a rec leader for Oakland Parks & Recreation and teaching students at Fischer Middle School. Married twice and beloved by many, she was a proud mother of Turk and Maya. In lieu of flowers consider donating school supplies locally or a gift of support to Planned Parenthood, both causes close to her heart. Private service September 28th 1pm in her garden
