Johnstown man accused of raping 8-year-old
CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — A Johnstown man is facing charges after he allegedly raped and performed sexual acts on a minor in October.
Mikel Gwinn, 29, is facing charges after a person came forward to police about the alleged rape, according to a criminal complaint. On Oct. 6, officers from the Upper Yoder Township Police Department were contacted about an alleged child rape.

In a police interview, the 8-year-old child told officers that Gwinn had raped her and performed sexual acts on her on Oct. 5 and into Oct. 6. The child also told officers that Gwinn allegedly showed her pornographic videos, according to the affidavit.
Gwinn allegedly escaped from police custody on Oct. 17 but was taken into custody on Nov. 6.
Gwinn is in the Cambria County Prison with bail set at 10% of $500,000. He is facing felony charges of rape of a child, statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, aggravated indecent assault and a misdemeanor charge of indecent assault of a person. Gwinn is also facing a felony escape charge and has a separate bail set at 10% of $500,000.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Nov. 13.
