FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - At the City council tonight members voted to hold the resolution that serves to create a task force focused on improving EMS services and TRAA on an eight to one vote as they say the services are continuing to improve. Background: Fort Wayne City Councilmen propose joint task force to address 'broken' EMS system That resolution was tabled back in August, then again in September, and now in November. Over the course of voting Councilwoman Michelle Chambers is the only one who has consistently voted against it. Before Tuesday's meeting Councilman Russ Jehl said he was expecting council to hold it again. "I don't know why he continues to hold it; I don't know what his expectation is but what it tells you is that the administration has been working and continuing to work through this," said Chambers. "We don't necessarily feel that we need to interject or try to force those negotiations, what we want to do is make sure that they are being fruitful, and things are taking place and that ultimately the public's interest is being served," says Jehl. Chambers and other councilmembers say they have seen an improvement among TRAA and other EMS services, so they don't want to get involved. The resolution will be brought up again at the City Council meeting on March 11th, 2025.
