Joplin treatment center, director earn award
Nov. 7—Joplin Behavioral Health Group, a treatment center that is part of the national Behavioral Health Group outpatient opioid treatment and recovery centers, was recently named treatment center of the year for the company.
Lisa McCallister, program director at the Joplin facility, was also named program director of the year for the about 140 clinics BHG operates nationally. The awards were presented Oct. 7 in Dallas.
The treatment team provides care using a medication-assisted treatment approach, and McCallister said the award shows how much her team cares for its patients.
"It indicates our team treats our patients with respect. ... We have good treatment, we care, we have support people, we have counselors. ... It is a wraparound treatment — a whole-patient approach to treat addiction."
"We have respect for our patients, and we meet them where they are at. ... It's not about us, it's about them," McCallister said. "It's quite the honor and good for our patients. I'm very proud of our staff."
