Joy and musician husband victims of burglary

Anya Taylor-Joy and her husband Malcolm McRae experienced a terrifying robbery in London last year, it has been revealed.

, the star was staying in a north London mansion with her musician spouse and his bandmate Kane Richotte when intruders broke in.

The burglary took place in February 2023, but the news has only just been made public after won a legal battle to lift the reporting restrictions around the case.

Allegedly, two masked raiders smashed some glass to make their way inside the mansion, before trying to get into Taylor-Joy and McRae's bedroom whilst the couple were inside.

The pair and Richotte were all staying at the property of a well-known figure at the time, whose name cannot be revealed for legal reasons. They are reported to have been shaken up by the experience, but not physically injured. Taylor-Joy attended the 2023 BAFTAs just a week after the ordeal.

Kirk Holdrick, 42, is a suspect in the case. Originally from Borehamwood in Hertfordshire, Holdrick received media attention in the past when photographed out on a number of occasions with 's Hannah Voyan. The pair reportedly dated for more than a year.

Holdrick was charged with burglary in January of this year, but pleaded not guilty in April, and denies all allegations. He's currently being held at the high-security facility Gartree Prison in Leicestershire. His trial is scheduled to begin in September 2025 at Wood Green Crown Court.

Taylor-Joy and McRae eloped to New Orleans to tie the knot in April 2022. McRae is a guitarist, pianist and singer, and is part of the two-man band more* alongside Richotte.
