Joyce Marie Schulze Hanson Thompson

Joyce Marie Schulze Hanson Thompson, died peacefully at home on September 18, 2024, in Warminster, PA.

Joyce was born on July 8, 1932, in Deer Creek Township, Webster County, IA. She is survived by her husband, Marvin Thompson, formerly of Lincoln; her son, John Hanson (Kathy) of Pipersville, PA; her granddaughter, Michelle Hanson (John Tatum) and great-granddaughter, Rosemary of Allentown, PA; her grandson, Joseph Hanson (Britta) of Cleveland, OH; her stepdaughter, Carol Primus (David) of Gunnison, CO, her step granddaughter, Kristin Primus (Colin Garretson) of Berkeley, CA and her step grandsons Jordan Primus (Kelly) of Port Ludlow, WA; Christopher Vutsinas (Megan) of Charlotte, NC; and Steven Vutsinas (Megan Cutter) of Gainesville, FL and great-grandchildren: Nathan, Caitlyn, Owen, Merrill and Crosby. She was preceded in death by her father, Emil Schulze; her mother, Ida Schulze; her sister, Judith Schulze, her sister, Marilyn Schulze, her first husband, Marlin Hanson, and her stepdaughter, Cindy Vutsinas.

Joyce was born and raised on a family farm in rural Iowa. She met her first husband, Marlin Hanson, in Fort Dodge, IA, where they wed on September 13, 1953. They lived in Iowa, Nebraska, New Mexico and Virginia, where Marlin died in January of 1979.

Joyce married Marvin Thompson on March 22, 1980. Joyce and Marvin moved to Lincoln, NE in 1996. They recently moved to Pennsylvania to be near her son.

Joyce was a faithful, kind and loving woman. She worked with the blind and intellectually disabled, and volunteered with Koinonia, ESL, Stephen's Ministry and Meals on Wheels to name a few. She and her husband, Marvin, were long standing and very committed members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Lincoln.
