ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A St. Louis County jury convicted a man Wednesday of fatally shooting a 39-year-old man in Pine Lawn in 2021.
According to police and prosecutors, the shooting occurred on Nov. 10, 2021, in the 3800 block of Jennings Station Road.
Investigators said Kevin Fields, 20, shot and killed Christopher Chaney, 39, while he was standing on the sidewalk. Chaney was shot in the abdomen and made a declaration that Fields had shot him before dying, officials said.

Surveillance video from the shooting shows a dark Chrysler 300 speed away from the scene. According to investigators, a key fob to a Chrysler 300 was found on Fields, and the vehicle matching the fob and surveillance footage was located nearby. Investigators also say shell casings found at the shooting scene matched the firearm seized during Fields' arrest.
Fields was convicted of second-degree murder and armed criminal action. He is set to be sentenced on Dec. 9.
