Kathie Lee Gifford, 71, steps out in Tennessee amid fractured pelvis recovery
R.Green2 hr ago
Kathie Lee Gifford stopped by a local spa for a pamper session in her Franklin, TN neighborhood on Monday - four months after fracturing her pelvis in two places. The 71-year-old grandmother-of-two shielded her make-up free complexion beneath a white fedora, which matched her tank top and fleece-lined hoodie. Kathie (born Kathryn Epstein) toted a Gucci 'Ophidia' crossbody bag and she wore black baggy pants and b&w tennis shoes. Gifford spent over a week in the hospital back in July after falling while running 'in stupid shoes' down the stairs of her $3.7M four-story brownstone while still recovering from hip-replacement surgery. The Shroud of Turin: A Praise Special producer had a miraculous recovery two weeks later, which she credited to the 'hundreds of thousands of people praying for me.' '[The doctor] comes in with my X-ray and he goes, "Look at this Kathy." He said, "Do you wanna see your X-ray?" And I go, "That's my X-ray?"' Kathie recalled on the August 13th episode of TODAY . 'He goes, "Yeah, you're completely healed, you are cured. And he's an incredible man of God but he doesn't see that very often. He said, "You are healed, it is a miracle and now you can have one glass of wine if you want!"' Gifford continued: 'Anyway, I have been in no pain now and when that happens to you, you have to give credit and glory... credit to all the prayers, and when I think about the people that have reached out to me and said, "Kathie, have a speedy recovery, we're praying for a speedy recovery," that's about as speedy as you get!' The four-time Daytime Emmy winner later stepped out for lunch with her gal pal Sarah Zajia, who works as VP of business development for RxGenomix . Zajia happened to be clutching a copy of Kathie's latest literary effort - Herod and Mary: The True Story of the Tyrant King and the Mother of the Risen Savior - which hit shelves back on July 16. Gifford co-wrote the book with Bryan M. Litfin - who works as the professor of Bible and theology in the Rawlings School of Divinity at Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA. For her second outing of the day, The Baxters actress opted to bare a shoulder in a black knit sweater featuring bell sleeves. This time, Kathie - who let her wavy blonde locks blow in the wind - made sure to wear eye shadow, foundation, and lipstick. Gifford decided to moved from Connecticut to Tennessee following her 2019 retirement from TODAY after 11 years as well as the death of her second husband Frank Gifford in 2015. The Paris-born, Maryland-raised presenter and the former New York Giants player welcomed two children - son Cody Newton Gifford, 34; and daughter Cassidy Erin Gifford, 31 - during their 28-year marriage. Kathie famously got her start in show business in the 1978 Hee Haw spinoff, Hee Haw Honeys, before co-hosting ABC's Live! with Regis and Kathie Lee from 1985-2000 alongside the late Regis Philbin.
