Kathleen Klass, longtime Racine resident, dies at 73

Kathleen Klass, a life of love

With her family by her side, Kathleen "Kathy" R. Klass, age 73, died peacefully at her home on Monday, Nov. 4, 2024.

Early life and education

Born in Racine on June 1, 1951, Kathy was the daughter of the late Robert and Lucille (Andress) Mudge. She graduated from William Horlick High School in 1969, forming lifelong connections and memories.

Marriage and family life

Kathy married Gary Klass on Nov. 29, 1969, marking the start of a 54-year partnership filled with love and devotion. Kathy's greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she adored and cherished.

Career at All Saints Medical Center

Kathy worked as a supervisor in Environmental Services at All Saints Medical Center for many years. Her dedication and work ethic left a lasting impression on her colleagues and the community.

Cherished passions and interests

Kathy was known for her passion for shopping, her meticulous care for her home, and her enthusiasm for holiday decorating, particularly during Christmas . She delighted in bringing each holiday to life and creating cherished family memories.

Survived by loved ones

Kathy is survived by her loving husband, Gary; sons, Gary Jr. (Valerie) Klass and Michael Klass, ex-wife Lisa Loomis; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and a soon-to-arrive great-granddaughter. She is also survived by her siblings, Robert (Leslie) Mudge, Maxine (Craig) Baumann, Julie (Brian) Baumann, Cindy (Wade) Hawkins, Danny Mudge, Valerie Branson, Audrey (Paul) Whitt, Melanie (Tim) Powell; sister-in-law, Gay Probst; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Johnny Klass, and her parents.

Funeral service

A funeral service celebrating Kathy's life will be held at 11:30 a.m. at Maresh-Meredith & Acklam Funeral Home on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2024, with interment to follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the Whitt family, Tammy and Debbie Stindle, and the staff at Compassus Hospice for their compassionate care and support.
