HOUSTON — The Katy Freeway is shut down heading west near downtown due to a deadly crash Wednesday morning, according to the Houston Police Department.

This happened at 7:35 a.m. near the North Freeway.

Houston police said a man jumped from the Hogan Street Bridge and landed on a vehicle below on the Katy Freeway.

The man died at the scene. Police ask motorists to avoid the area.
