KCK middle school canceling classes after building fire

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — One Kansas City, Kansas middle school is canceling classes due to a building fire over the weekend.

Arrowhead Middle School is canceling classes on Monday, Nov. 18, and Friday, Nov. 22, Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools announced on social media.

Culinary students offer meals with 'Everything But The Turkey' fundraiser

The school district arranged for classes to be held at Homefield Kansas City, located at 9250 State Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. Classes will be held there from Tuesday, Nov. 19 to Thursday, Nov. 21.

KCKPS released a statement to families and students on their website:

"Over the weekend, a fire occurred at Arrowhead Middle School, and, as a result, classes are canceled on Monday, November 18, and Friday, November 22, 2024.

Our maintenance team is working diligently to thoroughly clean the building and remove the smoke and soot to ensure a safe environment for everyone.

To minimize disruption to learning, we have arranged for classes to be held at Homefield Kansas City, located at 9250 State Ave., Kansas City, KS, on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (November 19–21, 2024). Monday and Friday will be used for school staff to transition to and from the alternative site."
