Kentucky weather tomorrow: Clearing into a sunny, cool weekend

LEXINGTON, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — The rain we had on Friday was disappointing, but only because we didn’t see a whole lot of moisture seep into the ground.

Rainfall totals fell well short of impressive, but the forecast turns into a rather nice, cool, typical November weekend.

To recap, most of the Commonwealth gathered less than 0.1” of rain Friday. A few mesonet sites had a few tenths of an inch, but decent rain was hard to come by.

Overnight, a few pesky showers linger as we slowly clear from northwest to southeast into early Saturday.

The cold front will continue to push temperatures down into Saturday morning, with lows back in the upper 30s.

The sunshine will give way to temperatures back near average, but breaking into the upper 50s will be difficult all weekend.

Highs both days will sit between the low- to mid-50s. Lows will fall to near freezing on Sunday morning. At least we’ll have plenty of sunshine!

On Monday, the weather turns active again. Ahead of Thanksgiving travel, a stronger system will bring periods of heavy rain and gusty winds through Tuesday night.

There is a slight chance for a few flurries early Wednesday, but the latest trends have Wednesday running much drier.

Thanksgiving looks much cooler than average as well, with highs in the 40s after a chilly start in the upper 20s Thursday morning.

We’re also tracking another system that is starting to show for the weekend after Thanksgiving. Details on that will become clear closer to the holiday.
