King’s Men Rule Lycoming Tournament
WILLIAMSPORT – Vince Scalzo scored 18 points to lead King’s over PSU Altoona 61-59 in the championship game of the Lycoming College Tip-Off Tournament Saturday.
Scalzo also garnered MVP honors for the tournament. With the win, King’s improved to 2-0 while PSU-Altoona slipped to 1-1.
Scalzo was 4-of-9 from the field, but went 9-of-12 from the foul line while hauling in eight rebounds. Jamie Cousart made the all-tournament team after tallying eight points, six rebounds and two assists. Ryan Nenstiel added 10 points, five rebounds and four assists. John Soboleski chipped in six points and seven rebounds. King’s held a 47-26 advantage on the boards.
Dziabo Quintin led the Lions with 10 points.
Women’s Basketball
Misericordia 65, Wooster 64
Ericka Morrison led the Cougars with 16 points in a first-round game of the Nan Nichols Invitational.
Amy Hughes had 15 and Lacey DeGraw added 10. Morrison, Hughes and DeGraw all had six rebounds. Lindsay Sykes had eight rebounds and five assists.
King’s 76, Salisbury 69
Jenna Palumbo netted a game-high 28 points to lead King’s in the second round of the Marymount Tip-Off Classic in Arlington, Va.
Palumbo was 10-of-14 shooting and 6-of-9 from three-point range. Kaitlyn Fiorino scored 19 points, including three three-point buckets. Lauren Kendra contributed 10 points, eight rebounds and eight assists.
Lindsay Martin and Janay Johnson led Salisbury with 16 points each.
Rhode Island College 81, Wilkes 55
Jennifer Knott had 19 points and six rebounds to lead Rhode Island College. Tyla Martin added 13 points and Alice Mullen had 12
Katie Cappelloni had 15 points and five rebounds for Wilkes. Sam Lynam added 11 points and five boards, while Chelsey Gosse chipped in 10 points and five rebounds.
Women’s Swimming
Misericordia 119, FDU-Florham 45
Rachael Blass (200 free, 200 fly), Alaina Trent (400 IM, 500 free) and Abby Kocon (200 back, 1000 free) were all triple-winners for Misericordia. All three were members of the winning 400 free relay.
Men’s Swimming
Misericordia 113, FDU-Florham 62
Jeff Clark (200 free, 200 breast, 400 medley relay) was a triple winner for Misericordia.
Nick DeAngelo (400 medley relay, 200 back), Rob Jacobs (1000 free, 400 free relay) and Greg Vossler (50 free, 400 medley relay) were all double winners.
Greg Massie earned his first collegiate win as a member of the 400 medley relay team.
