The ESPN "College GameDay" panel was in Berkeley, California, in Week 6, previewing a matchup between the No. 8 Miami Hurricanes and the unranked California Golden Bears.

The "College GameDay" crew was nearly split on the selection for the UM versus Cal matchup. Kirk Herbstreit, Nick Saban and Desmond Howard picked the Hurricanes to win the game.

Pat McAfee and celebrity guest picker Marshawn Lynch chose the Golden Bears.

Much of the attention surrounded that late-night matchup, but Herbstreit and the rest of the crew also reviewed some big-time games in the Week 6 slate.

While speaking on some of the most notable conference matchups, Herbstreit highlighted an ACC team that would be on upset alert.

The No. 22 Louisville Cardinals were hosting the SMU Mustangs in Week 6. Louisville was listed as the 7-point favorite . Despite the rest of the panel picking the Cardinals to win the game, Herbstreit rode the underdog, picking SMU to defeat Louisville.

Herbstreit's prediction was correct, as SMU defeated the Cardinals 34-27 in Week 6.

SMU played a balanced game on both ends of the field. Aside from the Mustangs' 190 rushing yards to the Cardinals' 132 rushing yards, both offenses had extremely similar stat lines.

The Mustangs finished the game with 481 yards, while Louisville ended the matchup with 461 yards of total offense. Despite the Cardinals having a 34:23 to 25:37 time of possession edge, SMU quarterback Kevin Jennings played a phenomenal game to lead the Mustangs to victory.

Jennings recorded 281 yards in the air, completing 21-of-27 pass attempts. He also added one touchdown on 10 carries and 113 yards on the ground.

While the Mustangs are known for their offensive prowess, their defense showed up in a timely manner.

SMU's Isaiah Nwokobia was the only player to force a turnover in the game. Late in the fourth quarter, he intercepted Louisville quarterback Tyler Shough in the end zone, ultimately putting the lid on the bottle.
