KOIN 6 catches up with Joan Dalton, our 2020 Remarkable Woman

PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — KOIN 6 and Portland's CW are honoring remarkable women in our community, accepting nominations right now for outstanding women who are making a difference in your lives.

We have seen some amazing women win the title over the years, including one local woman who has dedicated her life to helping dogs find their forever homes.

Joan Dalton is the founder of Project Pooch , a nonprofit that helps young offenders find connections by rehabilitating dogs. Those dogs are often found at other shelters, at risk of being put down. Joan was also KOIN's 2020 Remarkable Women winner.

She joined AM Extra in the studio to tell more about her organization, her experience winning the contest, as well as her new book "Second Chances."

The winner will receive a $1,000 donation to the charity of her choice and a trip to Los Angeles to meet other Remarkable Women from across the country.
