[1] New Mexico Election 2024: Voter information, Voting locations – It's Election day. Polls will be open Tuesday, November 5 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. In addition to voting in the presidential race, New Mexico voters will cast a ballot for the state's three congressional districts and for one of the state's two Senate seats. Ballots also include bond questions and other measures.
[2] Reporter sues City of Albuquerque over fees for public records requests – The city is facing a class action lawsuit, accusing the city of violating its law on how it charges people for electronic public records requests, also known as IPRAs. Arizona reporter Patrick Hayes, who used to work in Albuquerque, filed the suit. The lawsuit claims Hayes submitted an IPRA request last year and was charged $0.50 per page for 474 pages, resulting in a fee of $237. According to city law, the city may charge for the actual cost of downloading and sending files via email. A city spokesperson sent this statement "The City has not received this lawsuit; we will review it when we do. In general, the City does not charge per page for electronic files."
[3] Foggy and drier weather before wet & wintry storm – Precipitation has left the Land of Enchantment, but pockets of dense fog, as well as some freezing fog, has come in its place with cold air, high humidity, and light winds. As low pressure quickly moves in overnight into later tomorrow we may see even more-widespread lower-elevation accumulating wet snow ahead as temperatures will drop even more.
[4] Uber and Lyft offering discounts on rides to polls – Two major rideshare companies are making sure everyone can get to the polls to vote. Lyft says riders can enjoy a 50% discount of up to $10 by entering the code "VOTE24" between 5 a.m. and 10 p.m. Uber is also offering a 50% off of rides for users who use the new "Go Vote" tile on the app to book a ride.
[5] ABQ BioPark hippo celebrates 51st birthday – Moe the hippo celebrated his 51st birthday Monday with his care team, his mate Karen, and his daughter Matilda. Zookeepers got him his favorite fall food, a pumpkin. Moe has outlived the median life expectancy of hippos by 14 years.
