Students serenade voters at Burlington polling place

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - They may not be old enough to vote, but some Burlington students found a way to participate in the democratic process on Election Day. Students from Champlain Elementary School serenaded voters outside a Queen City polling place. The fifth graders sang classics to connect with the community. They said they hoped the tunes would help energize voters and remind them that everyone's voice matters. "Music is a powerful source to encourage people. Like you go to sporting events and there's always music playing and that always amps up the crowd. So, I guess we're amping up the crowd by asking them to vote," said Franklin Millham-Berry, a fifth grader at Champlain Elementary School. The performance was organized by the group Play for the Vote .
