Medina Walmart arson suspect arrested in New York

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The man accused of intentionally setting a fire at the Walmart Supercenter in Medina on Monday has been arrested in New York State, according to police.

Court records show Jeremiah Q. Banto, 26, of Providence, Rhode Island, is charged with aggravated arson and grand theft.

The fire caused the Walmart on Pearl Road to close temporarily Monday afternoon.

Police said Banto also stole a vehicle from a used car lot in Medina Township on Nov. 4.

He is currently being held in Chautauqua, New York pending extradition to Medina County to face charges for the arson and vehicle theft, according to the Medina Township Police Department .
